Bilstein 5100...now what?

Billy's set at the highest setting on mine as well. Looks good man, maybe get some new tires to help with the 2wd problem!

Yea it's something I can deal with. Just would be much nicer to have 4WD. Less hassle. But your truck looks good! These bilsteins are awesome. I was thinking about getting some 305/50r20 tires to keep the speedo right and not mess with the gearing Just don't know if they will rub with the stock rims.

Let me know if you have any issues running a 305. I too want to run a tire around that width, maybe 295.

It will be close. I've seen some guys running 305/55 and 295 something or other but they had the rc level kit that gives a little more lift. 275/60/20 is what I went with, just wanted a little more sidewall. They still sling mud and rocks all over the thing at oem width, I was trying to avoid that as much as possible. Fender flares just won't suit my tastes with the width I'm running.

I would do fender flares but bushwacker doesn't make them in my color And do you notice any loss of acceleration or anything with the taller tire? And did you adjust you speedometer?

Why, do you need it?

The 1.8 bilsteins get you sure looks a lot more in that pic. I'm with GMC AT on keeping some rake but this should have left some. What are your fender measurements?

We are in the same boat, I too made a dumb mistake of not getting 4wd. Things I've done to mine so far: Tint, added oem sidesteps (bought from Craigslist, installed myself... Dealership wanted $800 with install, I paid roughy a quarter of that), I have my bilsteins being delivered, and I plasti dip both front and back bow ties black.

Edleman maybe a body lift 1.5 inch? or some front lift spindles and a 2 inch rear block will raise it up nicely and safe. whats nice about 2wd you dont have to worry about cv angles

The ride is a lot stiffer now but I like it. It's not so bouncy off-road but the best benefit at least for me is the truck stays planted better while turning. With the stock black shocks I had, it would almost bounce every time I made a turn, like turning left at an intersection. It would drive me crazy!!

I've heard if you add spacers to the bilsteins it makes for a terrible ride But I like the idea of more lift. Then I would need at least 34's and that would cause the speedo to be off and change my whole gearing which then would call for a re-gear which is around $1,000 if I recall correctly? I don't have that cash right now, couple months and I'll be out of college and hopefully I'll be starting my career....THEN it's on!

You wont have to regear your pickup with bigger tires. Your mechanic can plug into the OBDII socket and reprogram the speedo for a different tire size. It usually costs between $40 and $80 to have them do that.

What rear gear do you have? I've been running 33x12.5 with a 6" lift with 3.43 rear gears for 4 years, no issues.

I have the same gears. But by changing the size of the tires.. It changes the whole final drive ratio and effects the towing capability of the truck and I've also read it makes the truck feel sluggish and shift funny. Can anyone confirm this? Or am I just crazy..
