What is the wind noise fix?

I own two GMT-900 extended cabs and never had any issues or heard of wind noise issues.

I bought the fix on eBay it's a replacement part for the window mechanism

I have a 2006 Silverado that has the wind noise from passenger side rear area. Havent been sitting in back to see where the noise is coming from. My other 06 / 07 classic no noise.

So what is the fix? living in washington state will have to ride in back soon to see where noise is coming from.

Someone told me before they siliconed their rear window shut. Rather see if something other than this could be done if needed.

So what is the fix if it is the wind noise coming the around the glass? Replace the latch? Don't think it is sold seperate. Have to get new quarter window.

I used to fix a ton of these for the local Chevrolet and GMC dealers when I worked in a body shop. Start with the glass closed and latched. From the inside, door open or closed, lightly push out on the glass. If there is noticeable movement then the latch is not pulling the glass down tight enough to seal it. Now, continue at your own risk because you can break the window latch. Pull loose the upper part of the trim panel to gain access to the latch area. Disconnect the glass from the latch if you can but it is not absolutely necessary. Now, we used an extra large pair channel locks (or slip-joint pliers) heavily taped because it will scratch the paint and gall the plastic latch. The "lower" jaws of the pliers will go all the way to the metal "flange" where the window frame is glued. The "upper" jaws go over the latch but off to the side a little so you are not on the little bar where the window snaps in. Be careful to not be on the outer seal either. Now basically all you want to do is roll the latch toward the inside of the truck. It doesn't take much. Too much force will break the latch. When done properly there should be very little movement when you push on the glass from the inside. I would say this fixed 80% or more of these wind noise complaints.

If I remember correctly this was a GMT800 Ext Cab issue with the flip out rear windows. Awhile back I read something about replacing the window latch for the fix. It took maybe 15-20 mins to remove the old and replace it with a new 1. There was a youtube how to video on it too.

I second NBSFan. I had a 2005 Silverado extended cab with the 'flip-out' windows. Seems the latch from the factory wouldn't suck the glass in tight enough as Duke mentioned above.

My rear window on the pass side would 'whistle' when going above 70 MPH. Was quite annoying as at that time I did a lot of highway commuting. I purchased an eBay kit for it. Believe it was just 2 new window latches slightly shorter than factory. Sure enough, problem was gone after. Even at 85 MPH, no issue. Good luck!
