Driveline Noise Question

Hi Guys

I just picked up a nice low mileage 2013 GMC 2500HD with the 6.0 gas engine. I owned a 2007.5 2500HD Duramax for a few years, but recently I'd been driving a 2014 Silverado 1/2 ton. I noticed that I hear a slight driveline noise coming from the front end on the 2500HD. The noise sounds similar to my 2014 when left in Auto 4x4 mode, or maybe like a wheel bearing starting to make noise. Since it's been a while since I've had a 2500HD, and the 2500HD has a slightly different transfer case without the auto 4x4 feature, I wanted to check to see if this noise is normal on these trucks, or if I may have an issue in the future (truck has 12,000 mile / 12 month warranty). I'll obviously continue to listen to see if it changes, but I'd like a little feedback from other owners.

Thanks!

There is something with the tube-frame trucks and transfercase/front differential noise...my 2012 has been in the shop for it, the first time I was told they had a bushing fix that was due out in a year and the second time they said the bushing fix didn't work and was never issued. I was told the noise is harmless, sounds like a pinion bearing to me.

Look for a TSB for transfercase noise...it is specific to the 2500HD and 3500.

Could it sound similar to this?
