Lower the back 2in vs Raising the front 2in

So, my brother-in-law just got a 2014 sierra. I have a 2015 sierra. We were discussing mods and he was talking about lowering the back half of his truck with shackles. As far as leveling the front, I know you can get kits for $40 to $60 dollars or go with the bilstein shocks which is probably the better route to go. Is raising the front more difficult than lowering the back? Does one affect the ride more than the other?

I lowered my rear on my own last weekend simply by removing the block between the leaf springs and the differential on each side. $9 on metric washers was my total cost. Lowered the rear by 1&1/2 inches. There is still 1" of rake from back to front. Running boards sit perfectly level.

Lots of trucks with a 2" lift to the front seem to be too high on the front.

I am very satisfied with mine. Plan to clean my truck tomorrow and do photos of it for here and a similar unmodified truck as comparison.

Awesome! I'd be interested in seeing it. I think my brother in law bought some shackles and is planning to put them on tomorrow. He is supposed to send me a picture when they are done. That will help to see it in person eventually.

Also, I'm guessing if you lower the back you wouldn't need an alignment? Or would you?

Can't see why I'd need an alignment, didn't do one anyways. Put 300 or 400 kilometers on it since and it handles just fine

2wd or 4wd? 24" or 26" wheels? Looks great!

When I first got mine, we removed the rear blocks. At the wheelwell, it dropped little less than 1-1/2" (blocks may be closer to 1-3/8" IIRC). Rear bumper dropped about 2" though because of the pivot at the rear axle. Month later, put the blocks back in and raised the front 1". For me, this is a preferred look, there is still some rake and the again, because of the the pivot point, the rear bumper dropped so the truck doesn't have that severe butt in the air look.
