I have been getting the "itch" to put together something that has a classic look and would be a great firearm for general shooting and some critter work on the property. I am just about ready to put down some green for a new 580 series Ruger Mini-14 ranch rifle. Then I want to put on a complete, true walnut stock and hand guard. Then I want to put on an Accuracy Systems adjustable gas block and barrel stabilizer and a Mo-reaper muzzle break. Top it off with a Vortex Spitfire 3x prism scope. Have Brimstone gunsmithing do a trigger job on it. Yeah, I could probably do an AR a little easier and cheaper, but this setup would more closely resemble a classic M1/M1 Carbine/M14 style of rifle, short of the scope. I never cared for the M-16 style of rifle, even when I was issued them in the Army. I have always been fond of classic garand style. I don't want to shoot 7.62, so I don't want a M1A. That is overkill to take out a groundhog, raccoon, or coyote if I need to. And 5.56 ammo is dirt cheap compared to 7.62 and just plain fun for a day of shooting. Especially with my young grandson or the wife.

i've been really trying hard not to buy a new pistol with the M&P shield sale going on and the 4 free mags and holster from Springfield Armory.

Couple of hundred rounds through it now, and I'm having so much fun! It's my first AR and I wasn't really sure how much I'd like it compared to the bolt-actions I grew up with, but it's a hoot!

i have about 19 guns. from hand guns, shot guns, ar and bolt rifles, supressors, no revolvers yet. my favorite gun to shoot it probably my remington 700 in 308. it makes a nice big bang.
