Moto X android phone and MyLink

I recently purchased a 2015 Silverado and I am having issues with text messaging with my Moto X 2nd generation phone. When I receive a text message I get a message on the DIC and have to press the steering wheel control to listen. The only reply option I have is one of the canned replies in the Mylink. I would think with technology I should be able to receive and reply to text mesaages with my phone.

I have tried using a Bluetooth Launch app and using a long press on the control to wake the phone, but that didn't work. My phone is set up with a pin to unlock it and I am wondering if that is the issue. The other thing I noticed when my phone is connected to the truck both google now and Moto voice don't respond with sound. If I say send text if not connected to the truck it will ask "Who do I want to text". In the truck it doesn't do that.

I am a bit frustrated with this since my last phone was a windows phone and it worked great in my wife's 2011 Enclave. We both switched phones, she went with a iPhone and myself with a droid and neither will read texts in either vehicles.

Any help would be appreciated.

It can be frustrating when thinks should just work logically but don't. When connected to Bluetooth all audio from the phones is sent to the car stereo. But if you are not listening to music using Bluetooth you don't hear it. They also have no way to send any other texts then the canned ones.
