SavageSierra Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I have a 2015 CCSB Sierra with the non-bose system. I went to my local audio dealer and told them i wanted to change out all the door speakers and put in a 12 inch sub. For $1800 installed they recommened this: Front: JL C2 650 6.5" Components Rear: JL C2 650 Coax Amp: JL XD600/6 Sub: JL 12TW3-D4 Shallow Mount 12 Box: Downfire. Not sure of brand but it is going to go under the rear seat behind the driver and it is rhino lined . All JL wiring. The shop also said they install dynamat in all the doors and on the floor in every vehicle. My question for all you audio guys: is this a good setup for the money and will it perform? Any recommendations?
cmysstailights Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Price is good. Jl sub is nice, why not go dual 10" Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
Moreno93 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 my advice price out all those items online. and then decide if you want to spend all that extra money. it will take them maybe an hour to install speakers. and the sub box will be a prefab box for your truck which will not give you the best sound.
Jeff5347 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I can say from experience the all in one jl box didn't impress me. I had the 12 inch sealed powered sub. Sat under the rear real nice but not the kinda bass I like. If you just want added fill...it willl be fine. If your like me and want to hear your rock and country thump, separate items are the only way for that. The jl I had was a shallow sub design like the one your eying. They work but not like a traditional full excursion sub. As for JL for doors they are a name brand that everyone has heard of but no where near the best. Look up soundqubed, Hertz, sundown audio. All can be had at around the same price JL goes for. But 1800 installed really doesn't sound bad. Just research like Moreno said. For my sub I have a jbl 12 inch in a 1.25 cu in box....and it pounds. Puts the JL to sleep and murders it. The JL box I got was (gulp) 500 bucks.!! The jbl sub was 70 plus a prefab box at 50 and I had an amp lying around but there's many out there for under 200 that are very good. That's less than 400 bucks and something that makes country, rock, electronic, rap whatever have your friends take notice. Go on the caraudio.com forum. That's where you see what speakers are good and bad as those guys go thru speakers like underwear Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

I'm not trying to blow the doors off or anything i just want something that will sound clean with some decent bass and most of all not distort like these crappy factory speakers. I don't think the box/sub combo they are recommending is an all in one sealed unit from JL, the box is a different brand but i can't remember what brand it is. EDIT: sorry about the triple post my computer was freaking out

SavageSierra Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 I had bose in my 07 Yukon Denali and I thought it sounded pretty good for what it was but the non-bose in this new truck is very disappointing.

EDIT: sorry about the triple post my computer was freaking out Don't get me wrong JL isn't bad...but there is better stuff at the same or cheaper prices. I found out the hard way without research and dumped money at what I thought was good then found stuff better and cheaper. Just hate it if that happens to you. I used to have ridiculous stereos but now want a clean, tight bassy sound. I'm like you...don't need to throw tons of money at it Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
SavageSierra Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Hey, i hear you and I appreciate you giving me this advice. I will shop around at other audio installers and see what they have to offer and i will also consider other brands of equipment. But i think this shop is going to be pretty hard to beat.
