HORRIBLE dealer experience

I am very mad and I kinda have to blow some steam.

A few days ago I sent an email to every Subaru dealer in New Hampshire expressing that I would be interested in buying a new WRX, and was curious if my discount through delphi automotive inc. was valid on subaru's.  He responded back and said it wasnt but he could still get me a good discount on a WRX.  So i called him and everyhting went cool and he gave me a good price on one so I was happy.

Then...  today I have a message on my answering machine asking for my dad regarding emails that were sent to all the dealers in NH and there questionable content.  So I called him back instead of my dad.  I thought to myself, "What did I do wrong?"  He proceeded to tell me that I "lied" and "wasted everyones time" by sending out emails to everyone in NH.  He said he wouldn't sell a 17 year old a WRX and he was mad that I had wasted alllll his precious time.  He was mad that in the emails i had said "I" was going to buy a vehicle, when in reality it was my family.  WHOOPTEE DOO

He then asked to talk to my dad so I let him.  My dad laughed and said he had questionable sales ideas.  My dad told him I had every right to be calling and looking around.  Then the dealer talked about "how powerful" WRXs are.  My dad told him that I drive a camaro z28 and his y2k vette(which both by the way are way more powerful and arn't AWD so would get out of control a lot easier.)

Exeter Subaru:   "Keep your business!  You age discriminating jerks!  I wonder if Subaru of America would like to hear this story."

Here's my question why does this man feel he has to check up on me and my dad?  DOes he not have anything better to do?  Did i Make him that mad?  Whas it worth the loss of business?  Diguout:  remember this story

What a jerk.  He just screwed himself out of some money.  Yeah, you're 17, so let me do the math correctly, you'll be turning 18 in under a year at which point you can get your own car, but I'm sure pops was going to cosign the loan anyways.  Oh well, his loss and another friendlier dealers gain.  I wonder if he calls up every person that takes a test drive and then doesn't buy a vehicle to complain about them wasting his time.

a swift kick in the balls would be a good idea for that guy

He defended himself later saying that he gets calls from us 17 year olds all the time, and we never buy anything.  I'll tell you what, this is not a very good attitude to have.  When i told him i was his customer and that he shouldn't be treating me this way he responded with "Your not my customer! your dad is!"

I hate to break it to this guy, but daddy could care less.  I am going to pay for this with my college co-op money.  My dad may cosign but thats it.  I am his customer.

BTW, i will be turning 18 in april.  thats about 2/3 months! lol, jerk

Man, I've never come across something like that, even though I've dealt with more than a few jerks.  I even discuss buying tractors and combines with dealers, they don't bat an eye even though I'm talking $75-100K, even more powerful and dangerous than what you were dealing with.  Guess I'm just not a young punk with a keyboard. ;)

Silt i got the same treatment from chevy dealers when i told them i was ordering a truck in a few months (went in february ordered in march) they blew me off.  So i walked and went to a dealership 3 hrs away.  Best thing i did.  I drove my truck up just to show those &^$&*$^*#$# after i got it.  Went in said can i have such and such brochure should have sen the look on their faces (2 dealerships)

You could always buy a GM Truck!!!  You're more than welcome on this site, and there are alot of great guys here!!!   LOL  J/K

You're right that dealers don't treat younger buyers with the respect they deserve.  I think that was pretty nervy of the salesman to call and ask to speak with your dad!!!  I would be PO'd too.

Why shouldnt they ask to speak to his dad when since hes under 18 he cant legally sign for the car...

Maybe you imagined a conversation going more like this:

Salesman: Hi junior i hear you wanna buy a car.

Underaged Buyer: Yup

Salesman: ok what do you want?  Lets talk color, options, warrantee, anything to trade in? (45 minutes later) ok lets now talk price.

Underaged Buyer: Oh you gotta talk to my dad about that.

Salesman: Ok

Dad: hi

Salesman: hi so lets talk price.

Dad: ok what do you have for options, warrantee, and what if i trade something in?

Salesman: (another hour of explaining)

Dad: hmm i will get back to you.

Salesman: <wasted his time>

I dont see how you guys dont understand.  im 22 and I understand...

Its like why would you even start talking to a 15 yr old girl about maybe going out on a date when you can talk to her mom and not end up in JAIL!

ok ok strike that last part but i hope you see my point  :inlove:

Did he say he was buying one that day.  I dont think that he did so he has all the right to be looking especially if he is looking to buy in the near future.

Because we wern't discussing methods of payment or anything.  Its noone of his business for him to have to talk to my dad, and yell at him, when all that was discussed is price.  I thought i asked you nicley not to troll on my site?

    • I agree, simplicity and reliability matter more as vehicles get more complicated. A V8 work truck option with fewer electronic features and a stronger warranty would definitely appeal to a lot of buyers who use their trucks for real work. Customizing it with trusted outfitters is often the best way to get exactly what you need.webcrimsNY
    • I’ve heard similar complaints from newer vehicles where the factory “premium” systems don’t always live up to expectations. A good installer should be able to improve the sound without turning it into a bass-heavy setup. I’d look into upgrading the front speakers, adding a quality DSP amplifier, and possibly improving sound deadening first—those changes usually make a much bigger difference than just adding a subwoofer. Hopefully someone local can recommend a reputable installer in the Las Vegas/St. George area.
    • Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.
    • The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.
    • Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.
