So here is my delima. I called the local shop today. They said this will cause all kinds of havoc for my 2015 5.3. I want to go from the factory cats off the headers delete the "3rd cat" putting an X pipe to dual Borla XR-1 mufflers and out to angled under the rear bumper and femder line hidden from ciew though. All 3" piping. My question is. Can it be done. Will also be tuning with the diablo intune 2 to delete the v4/v8 bs. Please anyone that can help i greatly appreciate it!!

Dual 3" pipes are not suggested at all for a stock 5.3 much less a hot built motor. Dual 2.5 is more than plenty with the mufflers you want but I suggest doing a set of American Racing Headers and then the exhaust system. 3rd cat delete is fine as they don't do a damn thing anyway.

400 HP minimum and the HP range will be in the upper RPM's where you do not drive in a street driven vehicle. 2 1/2 will easily support 375-400 HP on street driven engines. Bigger is not better.

10/4. Ill rethink it with 2.5" instead of 3". For the true duals. Whats our factory piping?

i know I saw a guy from up around Houston do this same exhaust setup on a 2014 5.3 with all 3" piping

If you think dual 3" is cool go ahead.... it will be a pig with a big loss in low end torque.

My 2011 6.2L had 3.5" pipe from the factory. 403hp.

Right but that is a single pipe not dual pipes totally different comparison.

well after further consideration and some more research, I concur with you 07softail. it will be a huge waste and a step in the wrong direction. so for now just doing away with the awful v4/v8 swap, any suggestions on a good fix for that?

Range will disable the AFM or a Black Bear Custom tune will overall make the truck run a hellva lot better. I recommend the Tune personally.

I have Gibson metal mulisha exhaust which is 3.5 inch from the cat back to the muffler, then it exists the muffler to 4". I don't notice much if any power loss, but that is only a single pipe exhaust. I use the range device and it works good to eliminate the drone. I'm also getting just as good fuel milage.

Here is an over-explanation of exhaust, but very technical and i found it really interesting while watching.
