Stock LT Shock Rebound

My post was directed at guys that are trying to swap shocks out to make the truck ride cadillac soft. They would need completely new coilovers to reduce the firm ride.

I had a bad rear shock after less than a year. The stock monotubes are as cheap as the Z71 Ranchos.

I don't think that soft of a ride can be had with the spring set that the 14-15 ships with, perhaps the later 16s, but I haven't been in one, so I can speak to it's ride feel. i put bilstein under mine and the scary jolting over bumps went away, but the ride is still very firm, which is more the nature of the entire suspension.

I am gathering spring part numbers on the differences between years. I won't put any money into springs until the 17s come out, they may change again,, who knows.

Just wounding if the gmt800 coils would work on these trucks. If the gmt800 coil is a softer rate coil, they could be the answer with a set of bilsteins. Just not sure how the front height would be effected. If bilstein will ever release the 6112 which will include a softer coil, they should solve the stiff front end problem.

riding around in my brothers 2014 sierra slt yestereday, it rides much smoother than my chevy. on harsh bumps its like my rear shocks are locked , bounces the truck off the ground

I do remember reading way back in one of these threads that GM had to make a spring change early in the 14 builds .... don't ask me where that was... there was a concern from engineers / safety
