First Scratch :(

Happened last Saturday night rubbing up against a drive through curb. This is my first ever vehicle with larger wheels (20's) so I didn't think anything of it until I saw it. Basically, I scraped about a 2"x1/2" section of the chrome off the edge of the rear left wheel. You don't notice it until you see it and then, obviously, you can't take your eyes off of it. Is there an easy fix or is it best to just keep it, as I'm sure it won't be the only scrape after 10 years? I don't mean to sound petty, just a little down since I bought this truck after my 2015 Colorado was T-boned.

That's one of many reasons I prefer nothing bigger than 18s unless the tires are 44s or bigger then 20s are fine. There was one time when I was going around a small access road in front of Walmart and someone thought it was smart to jerk into the middle turn lane and go so far over that I had to swerve to the curb so I wouldn't hit them. I only scratched the tire sidewall so I'm glad I don't have anything bigger than 18.

Not sure if it's a fix other than having it rechromed, but either get used to it or replace it with another stock rim and maybe keep the damaged rim as the spare tire. It will fit under the bed as long as you don't get oversized tires that are too big to fit. If not, then again, get used to it I guess. I'm used to seeing little scratches here and there on the bed sides. It doesn't bother me since I actually use it to haul stuff. I just still don't want a deep scratch to bare metal lol.

Find a matching wheel and use that scratched one as a spare.

This is also the reason I went from 20" to 17" wheels. Lot more rubber sidewall, not many curbs big enough to get the wheel.

Pics? I have 20 inch rims as well and I put Nitto Terra Grappler G2s AT on them. So far I have curbed my truck quite a bit and have not seen anything and I am very thorough in checking it when washing my tuck, haha. Honestly, I can tell you where the now 4 (just found another one yesterday) chips are in the paint. Anyways the tires are just the stock (255/75R20) size but they are defiantly wide and stick out past the rim. I am pleased with them. Depending on the rim maybe you could get it polished and make it less noticeable and then do a tire that won't be to large but give you a "comfort zone". Best of luck!

Same reason why I went 18". Big wheels with low profile tires are just not practical and they ride like crap in comparison. I like my kidneys to be in the same place after driving down grid roads an fields.

Sorry to hear that. I'd be very upset too. That's one reason i don't take my truck though the mcd's drive through. Curbs on both sides and sized for compact cars. Lol

I have caught curbs 3 times so far with the rear tires. Mostly turning into and out of driveways. If i had 20s it would have hit the rims for sure. 2 times the mark on the sidewall was about an inch from the rim. Not good. Hope you can find a matching one
