How-To: Install K2 Floor Lighting.

Well after three weekends I got it all done. I installed floor lighting with analog dimming controls in the truck. Looks great. Wish GM would have done this from the factory.

Started with tapping into the dome light circuit in the A pillar. (Largest Gray Wire)

Ran down to a fused dimmer control. To control the brightness of the lights.

Installed flexible LED strips with 3M mounting tape in all four seating locations running the wires under the carpet, and the center console. Linking togther sections as I went and soldering and heat shrinking everything.

Finished product looks good. No wires visible anywhere. The lights still theater fade out with the rest of the interior lights as well.

Wow, that's awesome! Thanks for all of the details on everything.

Side question; do you like the WeatherTech mats? I want them, but at the same time I don't like how they cover the sill plates up.

I like the mats they work great protecting the floor of the truck. I did have to put a heat gun on the passenger side one to get it to lay against the kick panel properly. After that no problems.

The mats come right up to the sill plate and cover it just slightly. It's not fully covered. I wouldn't be able to see the high country logo otherwise!!

i did the same except i used RGB strips for the footwell/underseat so that i could change the colors with a push of a button whenever i wanted. got them on teal right now since its sort of matches my oem dash lighting at night.

Do the dome lights need to be on in order for the footwell lights to function? I'm looking into doing the footwell lights but I'd like for them to turn on when the doors open not dependent on the dome lights being on. Is that how yours are set up?

I know this is an old thread but I installed mine tapping that grey wire with a diode. I also added a switches inadvertent voltage battery source with a 100 ohm resistor between the diode and lights. This allows me to turn my floor lights on at a dimmed amount for show and not back feed dome circuit. Those dimmers are nice but bulky and a heck of a lot more that .25 cent.

The inadvertent voltage is nice because I leave my lights on 24/7 they turn off 20 min after truck receives last door trigger with key off or before if the key is off and voltage drops. I have them switched by a 315 MHz latching bistable relay programmed to the home link garage button.

FYI instead of buying a dimmer just get a variety pack and set the light as bright as you want it. Changing later is only .25 cent. Just my opinion.
