Android Auto connectivity issue

Hi,

I just recently picked up my factory-ordered 2016 Silverado LT with the IO5 8" MyLink unit. The Android Auto integration works quite well except for one major problem namely that I can't always get Android Auto to launch when I connect my phone (a Nexus 5X).

After some fiddling around, I've discovered that the only way that I can get Android Auto to launch reliably is to connect the phone after I've started the truck but before the Bluetooth connection is established. If I connect the phone after the Bluetooth connection, Android Auto attempts to start on the phone but then stops. If I connect the phone before starting the truck, Android Auto sometimes launches but often doesn't
.

What I don't know is whether the problem is with the phone or the truck. Has anyone else come across this problem? If so, is there a solution?

Any information greatly appreciated.

I would ask to have a software update check done. Trust me I am on my 2nd new 2016 trucks in 2 months - both had to be updated to work.

After it started working=awesome!

Is there anyway that I can check the current software version for myself?

Hello dciarnie,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing concerns when trying to connect to your Android Auto system. I recognize that at this time you are looking to other forum members for advice. However, I would recommend bringing this to the attention of your dealership. I would be more than happy to reach out to them for you to make them aware of your concerns. Please private message me with your VIN, full contact information, current mileage and preferred dealership, and I can contact them right away.

All the best,

Julianne M.

Hi, Julianne

What I'm really trying to do is get an idea as to whether it's the phone or the truck because I don't want to pay for a service call if it's determined that it's not the truck that's the problem. And it's looking more and more like the phone is the problem. This thread on Android Central describes problems that people having been having that are very similar to mine including somebody with a Nexus 5x and a 2017 Cadillac XT5.

Well, I haven't had any problems with this over the last few days and have been able to get Android Auto to launch every time I connect to the truck regardless of whether the phone has yet connected via Bluetooth. I never did anything special but the AA app on the phone now has two entries for my my vehicle, both labelled "Chevrolet MyLink", whereas before it only had one entry. I don't know what's going on here but I'm taking the attitude of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and am leaving both entries alone.
