Has anyone made the second battery tray into a storage compartment? Looking to keep stuff in that area but am looking for ideas.

Yes, tons of people have and there are threads out there about it. I just bought a boat battery box from Walmart for $10 to put in there, works great. Ditto on my brother silverado. Frees up a little more room under the seat.

I've seen plastic storage boxes there, Air horns, Lift compressors/ Amo boxes used as storage.

I just use it as a place to set tools when I'm working on it ha ha.

I'm going to end up using an ammo can I have laying around. To secure it I have a large magnet that I'll put in the can to hold it to the tray.

I bought an underhood storage box from an older 1500 model. Can't remember what year, I think maybe 2007-2009. Do an ebay search and see what you can find. I had to drill a hole or two in the bottom of the storage box and get some longer bolts to mount it to existing locations in the tray.

Works pretty well. I have my jumper cables and a set of work gloves in there.

Here is a link to the same type of box that I bought:

Battery boxes are running $5-$10 at Walmart depending on model. Seems like the cheap option.
