Factory tailgate lock

Just bought a used 2012 GMC Sierra Denali. Did this truck come with a factory tailgate lock operated by the remote or is it a manual key lock?

My '09 is manual.

 

There are aftermarket kits to tap the power locks and install an actuator to tie it in to the power locks.

 

I also bought the $15 Masterlock tailgate lock that makes it more difficult to steal the tailgate if you forget to lock it.

I have the Pace Edwards remote tailgate lock. It has done well for the last 2.5 years.

So I am guessing my 2012 GMC Denali did not come stock with a remote tailgate lock? It seems difficult to wrap my head around why the 2008 Chevy Avalanche I once owned had a remote tailgate lock from the factory and my top of the line GMC Sierra Denali of the time (2012) does not...weird!!! I guess GM overlooked that option for the Sierra Denali?..I always thought GM was looking forward and not backwards.

The factory remote tailgate lock is only now available in the 2016-up GM pickups. GM finally listened to customer requests.
