Hellwig 987 with topper

Hey everyone,

I was looking to get a little more pay load and rake out of my 2015 silverado. Its currenty got a 2" level up front and +1" blocks in the back. As of now with the topper it still sits probably 1/4" lower in the back. I was thinking about bags but for how much I actually put extra weight in I don't know if they would be worth it. So looking at the Hellwig EZ helper would this be able to make up some of that squat from the topper. Or should I look into adding a leaf?

Thanks everyone in advance!

Depends on how much the canopy weighs the can be between 150 and 400+lbs depending on make model options. My truck is stock height but if you look at with canopy etc it is almost level. My Canopy weight is about 275 lbs.

Spend the extra and get add a leaf, spacers are just that spacers.

Edit: Think about this again I think I would recommend lowering your front though. My reasoning is with more spacers or add a leaf you would be approaching the height where you should consider a good and true lift but that would cost thousands. a pair of Bilstein 5100 adjustable ride height would be about $100-120 per shock + install. They would also allow you a little more playroom in your rake. That would be most cost effective solution IMO.

I have the helwig helper springs and they work great. It won't add height but it will handle the weight of the topper better so it won't sag. The ride is gonna be a tad more harsh, but to me it felt like an improvement, feels like the truck corners better

Yeah its a leer 100xl if that makes a difference. I don't feel removing the blocks in favor for the bilstiens are truly cost effective...I since I will still have the squat regardless, I'm truly trying to stiffen up the rear.

This is what I was hoping for. Allow the springs to tighten up a bit since the sag from the topper is the problem, get rid of that and I should be able to put weight in the back without issues...This all stemmed after loading the back with bricks and rock yesterday, believe it was 1200 pounds or so, you could tell it was squatting while driving...

I tow trailers often and it definitely helps with sag from the tongue weight, we'll worth the ~$100 you spend, and install is super easy took me half an hour with beer breaks [emoji106]

good deal, so in theory I should gain back the loss from the topper? since its causing the springs to be compressed?

Yeah should help relieve the stress from them, help your leaf springs live a longer life lol

right! I was thinking that weight plus any weight being put in the back can't be good for them over a long period of time. Or my shocks...

These claim on the top setting to raise the rear 1". Claims to help with towing, traction, stability when cornering, etc...

I want to try them, just haven't convinced myself to drop the money. [emoji848]

Yes, they mount directly to your spring pack. But install the block first, the spring covers the top of the u bolts

I just installed spring helpers a couple days ago. Amazing! They raised mine a 1/2 which put it where it needed to be and firmed up the rear end. Now when I tow my 28 foot rv no sagging! Corners better as well. I considered adding a leaf but I believe it would be to harsh a ride

Which one did you install? I need 1/2" lift in the back to level my truck back out after putting a 2 1/2" level kit in the front. Plus the added benefit of less sag when towing.
