Maybe it is radiation from today's sun.

My iPhone would connect to CarPlay telephone function but not the text function. Three months in, no problems.

I assume I will crank her in the morning and she will have forgotten why she wouldn't allow that.

Does it have the CPO rpo code on the label in the glove box?

(if so it is one of the 16's that had the 'credit' for not having AA/Carplay -- applies to trucks built from about mid May with (I think) the I05 radio)

And not to be that guy, but did have you downloaded the AA app to your phone?

I have the same issue. I downloaded the app, do everything AA says to do, but my phone just won't connect. I have a droid turbo 2 that doesn't work but my wife's iPhone connects as soon as she plugs it in

Glovebox does not show the CPO code. You never want to be that guy.. but yeah, i downloaded it. I have also tried changing all of the charging options on my S7, still it will not detect the truck.

I too have a S7. When I bought my truck earlier this year, Carplay using my daughters phone worked fine but not Android Auto. The Android Auto had not been installed on my radio. I had to have the dealer flash my radio with the Android Auto programming. Unfortunately it took about 3 hours to get it flashed. Also when I connect my S7, I have to go into the phone settings and then into the developer options and change the USB configuration from charging to MTP each time I connect the phone to the radio with the USB cable. I also have to make sure to enable Bluetooth prior to connecting the USB cable. I usually just leave the Bluetooth enabled all the time now.

I just found the mtp config, i was trying to only change it in the drop down choices from the notification panel where "mtp" was not a choice, however "file transfer" or "picture transfer" was..

Did you find a way to get the S7 to stay in I MTP mode.

I can select from the drop down, and permanently select it from the menu in debugging mode, but it always reverts back to charging mode.

I pretty much have to change it every time I connect the USB cable.

Is this the same for everyone else?

I have Verizon and took an update maybe 2 months ago to build ending in PE1, it would usually connect to Android Auto on its own. I have since rooted the phone and lost the automatic connect. I am back to having to go into the developers option and change it to mtp each time.

Phone connected by USB, then push the AA or projection button on the truck touch screen.

(it kind of defeats the wireless charging idea, but that seems be be how it works)

Take it to the dealer and see if there is an update. I bought mine, got it home and had the same thing - it would not detect any Android phone we tried. Took it back to the dealer and they applied a software update and it works great now!

If I have the Projection menu choice, does that mean I am ready to use Android Auto or not necessarily?

Posted

Not necessarily. On mine, I had the projection icon but it was only set up for Apple Carplay. I had to have the dealer flash my radio to add Android Auto functionality. I'm not sure how you could tell. Maybe go to the main radio screen and select the settings. Scroll through that and see if it is listed below Apple Carplay.
