Factory wheel finish peeling

Hi every one

This is my first post here on the forms, and I've got a question for you guys because i know I'm not the only person with this issue, and before posting this I've done some searching and i can't seem to find this topic all ready being discussed on here

I recently bought a 2012 certified pre owned 2500 Sierra Denali hd that has what i like to call the star wheels. Right of the lot i noticed the finish on all 4 wheels are lifted and some what bubbled in spots. due to this i was abel to talk them down a good amount on the price tag. After i bought the truck i asked at service writer if the wheels could some how be covered under the extended warranty, and he couldn't give me an answer, he told me to get in contact with GM and open a claim.

Has any one else done this? I've been searching this topic for a few months now and I've only come across people with the issue but no resolve.

I can post up some pictures if anyone would like to better see what I'm talking about

I bought a 2011 2500HD a few years back with 13000 miles and it was still covered under the bumper to bumper. Same issue with my wheels. Went back and forth with dealers by me but after a lot of back and forth the dealer I bought it from covered a new set of wheels under the warantee claim. Had to drive out to the dealer but got a new set of wheels.

Dealers by me wanted nothing to do with replacing them even though it fell under the 3 year 36000. Apparently it should even be under the 5 yr 100k. Someone said that during my ordeal but never confirmed

They most likely will call it normal wear and tear it's probably not even worth pursuing. You can find them for relatively cheap on Craigslist, might be better just to buy another set and use those as winter wheels. Also make sure that you have the wheel weights replaced with stick on wheel weights.

why not just phone up gm and ask?

id prefer know know if I'm just going to waste my time,

I'd give it a shot to see if you can get them to replace them under warranty but if not, and the sight of them bothers you, get rid of em and get some nice real ones instead of the chrome dipped plastic/steel that those are. Congrats on the new truck, by the way.

And welcome

Funny you say that. They asked me the same thing. And about three years later, same exact thing happening to my replacements. The finish is beginning to pit. I only noticed one spot.
