I have a 2006 Sierra 1500 with service 4wd light on, the code is C0321, and read Range actuator Lock Control Circuit short to battery. Anyone have an idea as to how to fix this or what needs to be replaced? the push button on the dash is lit, but you cant switch out of 2wd. this all happened about two months after the transfer case was replaced.

It could be the encoder motor sensor or the t-case has a mechanical problem.

Do you have warranty on the t-case repair you had done?

I do but the places states that is has nothing to do with the t-case says its that switch in the dash. So I brought and replace that switch and nothing. go back to them tell them. their answer its the shift control module, so i pay to have that replaced and flashed. Still have the same problem and i m done with them, it to me it seems like they are just guess parts with no clue to what it is, at my dime. Heck I can play that game and no have to pay them labor.

Well, now there is a bit more to work with...

The only part you haven't changed yet (that doesn't require t-case removal/disassembly) is the encoder motor.

It's a $50 ish part and not bad to do yourself.

Replacing the whole motor:

Cracking the encoder motor open and replacing the ring from another forum:

If you replace the whole motor, you get a new sensor ring but it is not cheap ($170 or so) for the whole thing when most of the time the sensor is the problem.
