Method Grid Wheels - RUSTING bolts- cheap

So I bought the whole set of wheels and tires about 2 months ago. Inside 2 months the decorative bolts on the outside of the rim are completely rusting.....I paid a lot of money for these and this is the quality you get?

 

So I called and they sent me out new bolts but it's like 30-40 bolts a rim with washers. The same exact bolts and I'm sure the same thing is gonna happen. How you cheap out on some bolts for rims.....photos below:

Nothing like OEM bro, try Fastenal they sale high quality SS, and they can make you anything... seriously! My brother works for Fastenal love getting all kinds of SS fasteners.

 

the screws are just for looks right? SS does not have high tensile strength.

Yea this is just for looks only, holds nothing in. Think they just have them there to resemble the race rims that actually use a ring. How do I go about having bolts made up though?

I would think all you'd have to do is give them one of the bolts so they can copy.

 

Being that the threads are so short I would add some blue thread locker so they don't back out. Looks like those washers are regular washers and not lock washers.

 

Also it's called a beadlock. It just sandwiches the bed of the tire between the rim itself and the ring. I believe Mickey-Thompson has the fake beadlock rims but it's actual rings where you can buy different colors. I want to say there's only a couple beadlock rims that are actually DOT approved, it may be more by now but I believe the first ones came out a few years ago.

just take them the bolt & washer so they can size it, I bet they have it. I will admit copying stuff is expense as there is a setup cost and yield, but seriously the stuff they can clone is nuts!

Another reason not to get wheels with fake beadlocks in my opinion..

I didn't know they even came off. I've had mine a year and a half, one winter so far, no issues.

 

If you take them in, let me know the thread pattern if you can.

Fake or not fake it comes down to the coating on the outside of the bolts, kind of a dlck comment by you

Everyone is welcome to their opinion.

But you wouldn't have rusty bolts if you didn't have them to begin with.

 

 

But, I do agree that they are probably cheap bolts to go with the cheap wheels.
