McGaughys Lift

Hey Everyone,

I have a 2015 Sierra which is currently stock. Been looking into lifts for about 6 months now. Been saving money for the lift and also ready about the different lifts. A few months ago I was set on BDS 6.5" lift now I'm looking at Mcgaughy's. I've read some positive reviews and some negative reviews. Looking for input from those who own Mcgaughy lift or know someone how owns one. Reason why I'm looking at Mcgaughys is price and also I want to run a 20x12. I read with the 6.5 lift you need to cut up the truck..

During my search I found Superlift, anyone running them?

Been running a Mcgauphy 7-9 for a week now, few hundred miles on it. Two issues, set at 8" I had to have a new leaf made to lift the back up a couple inches, I carry a couple thousand pounds of gear day to day. My driver's side exhaust pipe was rubbing on a kicker brace, causing a bad vibe. Heated it up, and bent the pipe a ch to get it off the metal. Other than that, smooth ride, no rubbing at 8" with 35 on 10" wide

I've had mine on for almost 2 months now. I have it set at 9 with an add a leaf and a 1.5 body lift. I am also running a 20x12 on 37x13.5r20s. I love it it rides amazing for a truck that high. You can tell there is an add a leaf in the back as it is a tad stiffer. But I found that the front is actually better than before. Before, when going over speed bumps it felt like the truck was going to throw you through the roof. Now it is a lot better. I have had it off road and through mud and it is great not a single issue so far. I would 100% make this purchase again. Also, the issues in the past were with the strut bushings being bad. I inquired about this before I purchased and they have a new updated version to fix the old issue. So that issue should now be irrelevant. Hope this helps with your decision. Any questions feel free to PM me.

Did you guys go with the SS packeaged? or just the regular McGaughys Part# 50769 ? One thing that i cannot find any information is what type of shock strut does it come with?

Posted

SS here. I inquired about the struts, and asked if u should upgrade while the work was being performed... not sure there is any upgrade as I think the struts are specific lengths for the lift. My ride improved dramatically, like a new truck again. I went with a new full length custom leaf afterwards to raise the rear, and increase my capacity

Did you reinstall the plastic shield under the front of the motor?

How much did it cost you to do the rear? I was really thinking of doing this. I also have the SS lift.

No I didn't it comes with a skid plate!

Not the skid plate, but the shield in front of it.

I went to a spring shop, they removed a leaf and added a full length leaf giving more capacity. $600.00
