Power window switch

My drivers side power window switch is intermittent. I ordered a new GM one from the dealer. The new switch acts differently than my old switch. Originally my switch would roll down the window to any location, if you pressed the switch down fully and released it, it would automatically roll the window all the way down.

 

If you push the new switch all the way down and release it, it rolls the window 1/3 of the way down, press it all the way down again and release it and it goes another 1/3 down, and finally you press and release it, it will go all the way down.

 

If you hold it fully down it just goes down.

 

Are the new trucks all like this? this is my second switch from GM as i though the first new one was faulty.

My bet is on the switch. Probably got sent one that doesn't have the 1 bump = full roll down. I don't think there is anything wrong with your vehicle/wiring.

I bought the factory GM OEM switch. The switch/window has 3 distinct "stop points" when you fully depress the switch past the detent "auto down" position. If you press and hold down the switch past the detent position you can hear the switch click as it passes the set points. I have tried 2 different OEM GM switches. If i put the original switch back in (the one that is slowly failing) it works fine.
