Who got an extended warranty with their 3500?

Hi everyone.

I'm new to the site, doing some research and thought I'd make a post about something I've been curious about.

I'm in the market to buy a Denali 3500 within the next year; first time HD buyer. I almost always purchase the extended warranty with any new vehicle I buy and intend to do so with this next purchase. I am curious though who else has purchased the extension, how much did you pay, and have you had to use it yet? Lastly, are there any diesel specific items not covered by the extended warranty?

Thanks in advance for the info.

I recently bought a certified used 2015 2500hd 6.0 cclb. I upgraded the certified gm warranty to the Gm bumper to bumper warranty that gets me to just over 100k miles. Paid $2400 for it. It's identical to the Gm factory warranty.

I considered getting a nice used f250 6.2 from an independent dealer. They offered a 3rd party extended warranty but that was a deal breaker for me. The 3rd party warranty restricts you to using their repair shops which are few and far between; worthless IMHO.

I plan to keep it forever if I can. 100k miles is great for the powertrain. I just want peace of mind for all the rest of the things that can go wrong. For example, do you know how expensive it is to replace a heated steering wheel?

BJD: I agree. I'd never consider a third party warranty.

I also know that over the years of not buying one I have already saved enough money to continue to 'self insure'.

The guy selling the insurance (even if it is GM) is doing to put more money in his pocket. That money is why he is in the insurance business.
