Looking for another truck

This week my grandparents and I were in an accident with a UPS truck totaling his 2008 Silverado WT. We're waiting on the payout but he needs a new truck. He's had every generation Chevrolet full size truck since1963. He loves my mom's '14 Z71 Allstar but needs a couple different options. He's not picky about much else. Needs to be a 4wd, have the built in trailer towing package, be a 4 door(preferably crew cab over double cab)

 

My airbag (I was the passenger) didn't deploy and GM is investigating. My knee got messed up but everyone walked/hobbled away!

I'm glad everyone is ok. I'm not sure if you are looking for suggestions but for what its worth, I'm very pleased with my CC SLE 4X4 with the V6. It handles all of my towing needs and is a significant improvement over my similarly equipped 09 with a V8. My truck history sounds similar so I thought I'd share my experience.

Glad your all OK. Kinda scary airbags did not go off. Looks pretty bad to me. Kinda worry's me I just got airbag recall done on my 15. I hope that software update works.

We've been looking around, trying to find a good deal. The prices have gone up almost 10-15k since my mom got her '14 1500. We found a few nice Sierras and Silverados. He doesn't want a HD he's 74 haha.

 

Things we discussed:

Crew Cab is a must(in my opinion, he thinks double cab)

5'8" or 6'8" bed

Vinyl/rubberized floor vs carpet with weather tech(his last 3 have been work trucks)

Power windows/locks are a must

Built in trailer brake and tow package is a must

 

My grandmother wants:

Crew Cab 5'8" bed

Dual climate zones

Heated passenger seat

Room for 4 adults

Cruise control

Backup camera

Factory step rails

 

My grandfather wants:

17s

6'8" bed

Aftermarket rubberized Bedliner rather than oem

Soft roll up tonneau cover

Manual transfer case preferred

Vinyl floors

Was the air bag recall done on your truck?

GM is investigating because his truck did not have a fix available yet. He got the notification of the recall saying it was safe to drive and they were working on a fix in July but nothing more.

Having witnessed airbags go off, I kind of hope mine malfunctions too

Ended up with a 2016 Sierra Z71 Crew Cab 5'8" Bed. The dealership included a trailer brake controller mounted in that center glove box since it didn't have the built it one. Other than that and heated seats had every option they were looking for $39,500 out the door! (Has step rails not pictured)
