Touch Screen Protective Film

Has anyone made a tempered glass protector for the screen? I'd love one of those. I'm not a big fan of the way the screen feels. I do love the tempered glass though.

Unfortunately it's not possible to use a tempered glass protector with this screen if you still want it to register touch. Your cell phone uses a different technology to sense your finger than our trucks.

This is a resistive screen. It's basically a piece of plastic on top of the screen, and when you press on the plastic, it bends back and touches the screen behind it, registering your touch and where it was. It registers where the two materials touch, not actually your finger. With a glass screen protector, it would spread the point where you touch too much to be able to determine what you were trying to press. With a flexible screen protector, it still allows your finger to bend the plastic enough for it to know where you were trying to touch.

I got mine from amazon the week I bought my truck. I use to do electrical work on private aircrafts. They usually had a touch screen in the galley that you could go into and access different maintinence screens as well as control TVS, DVD players, lighting, window shades and a bunch of other stuff. . Most of the touch screens had permanent wear on areas of the screen that were used a lot. For that reason I try to protect all of my touch screen.

So, upon further research and testing, I think I'm completely wrong here. The screen has a layer on top that is usually only on resistive screens. (read: I've never seen this on any capacitive screens, ever... and I work in IT with all kinds of devices) the type of anti reflective coating resembles the plastic used on resistive screens.

Recently I saw a spec on Chevys website that said the screen was capacitive on the 2017s... low and behold, I tested the screen and found that it reacts in a way capacitive screens do. Basically, if you use a plastic stick to touch the screen, a resistive screen will react. This one doesn't.

Sorry about the misinformation. With this in mind, if someone was trying to use a tempered glass screen protector, it should work. The screen should be very similar to most modern smartphones in the way the digitizer works.

Thanks for providing an update on your findings :)

I forgot about this post actually... I have the Tech Armour screen protector installed on my touch screen and love it. Fits perfect and works great. Been on for a few months now with no complaints. Appreciate the suggestions everyone
