Touch Screen Protective Film

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone has a protective film on their touch screen, similar to one you'd put on your cell phone. If so, where did you get it? Does it actually make a difference in the fingerprints all over it without one?

I have a 2015 Silverado 1500, if it matters.

Thanks!

I got mine on Amazon, believe it was $18 for a 3 pack. I got it because when I would scroll through songs on my ipod my nail dragged the screen and I have a bunch of little scratches there now, just wanted to prevent further damage. Fingerprints are a little more difficult to see, which is always a good thing lol

I dont know if this helps you at this point since i see you have a 2015. But when I bought my truck brand new I just used the cover that came on it, clipped off the pull tag, and squeegeed out all the air bubbles. Looks brand new and can't even tell it is on there.

Bought mine from Amazon before my truck even arrived. Put it on immediately and most of the time I forget it's even there. I do wish someone made a glass one like they do for cell phones though.

This is a good idea. Definitely something to look into, I hate all the fingerprints on mine

Me too. I find I avoid using the touch screen as much as possible to avoid this. Kind of a waste to having a touch screen though, haha.

Honestly i still have the factory film on mine. I took some time after i bought thr truck to smooth out the bubbles, its in there perfect now. No issues since day 1.

I actually did look into buying something but figured why if i could try and get rid of the air pockets. Saved some money til it wears out or something for some reason

Look up Tech Armor on Amazon. They make the screen covers for the Mylinks.

I understand about finger prints. For that reason I keep a microfiber in the console to wipe the screen whenever I think it needs it. I don't know if all the controls are there but you can select and scroll through the steering wheel. I use my ipod classic with 8000 songs and about 25 podcasts through the steering wheel and speedo display. I don't usually touch the screen just to keep those prints off.

Exactly what I did. No issues whatsoever with fingerprints...

Has anyone made a tempered glass protector for the screen? I'd love one of those. I'm not a big fan of the way the screen feels. I do love the tempered glass though.

Put me down as a +1

I go to the $1 store and get one for a iPad, trim it, then I tint it because while backing up the screen is to bright, did this in my 14, still gotta do it to nine now, keep forgetting until I'm trying to back the boat in

I too left the film on that came from the factory, the only issue I have had so far was because it's glossy I couldn't see the screen one day when I was backing up because the sun was low at the time and reflected off the screen.

Haha, I thought I was the only one who kept a microfibre cloth in the sunglasses holder for this reason. I usually will use the controls whenever possible, which I can do most things with, but it kind of sucks avoiding using the touchscreen for this one reason.
