Need a little advice for audio mods on my 16 1500

The truck is 16 1500 ccsb with 8" nav non bose its not going to be a competition winner just something i can have fun in

First i don't mind spending money, on products that will work depending on how much, etc it's going to be a work in progress build.

I am thinking about the alpine restyle system yes it's extremely expensive but i do like the features it comes with and will be adding lights, etc to the truck so that means no switch panel (cleaner look) plus i have a gauge cluster which replaces my android phone. Plus it looks clean and factory since I don't have seat warmers i hope they can make a bezel that fits what i got

Now time for speakers i am not brand loyal but will pay for the performance and quality

http://alpine-usa.com/product/view/chevrolet-silverado-gmc-sierra-restyle-sound-system-pss-31gm/i like this system mainly because of the zero space sub (i got the under seat storage and dont want to lose it) that sub mounts to the back of the cab. but i cant get sub by its self and crutchfield said it wont work for me(the whole setup).

I do know i will be doing a small amp for door speakers and new tweeters in dash (I probably got one close to blown?) regardless of what route i go with. Where does my warning chime come out at? I wanna say it comes at my left door speaker? Others say the dash.

Would it be wise replacing the door speakers before anything else? These factory ones while hit decently still sounds like crap..also best for bass and sound overall 6x9s or 6.5" door speakers? I know the rears are smaller will also see about adding some sound deadening in the doors (trucks quiet already)

Minus my cruze all i done was door speakers.

Way off topic what about taking off the center jump seat and adding full console? I guess i will lose my under seat storage space for the front seat? But gain added room?

I suggest running tweeter less. Mid bass in the door. Full range in the dash. Ran active. And looking into something like the sundown sd3 for sub stage

Posted

Ok i never thought about running mid bass in my doors . i didn't see any full range speakers for the dash on crutchfield. What size should i look at getting?

What are my sub options since i don't want to lose any underseat space? (I use them storage boxes way to much.) i know i can fit a amp behind my left back seat. But if i go sub I would loce to get at least a 10" (thats what that alpine zero space sub was)

Would a dsp be worth it add to my list? May do some digging but i found a good audio thread for my cruze the guy says he is a professional home audio instiller and does car audio as well (he listed a dsp that was pretty cheap compared to most i have seen.)

I just ordered the sundown 2.75 full range for m dash

And I'd look into an audio control unit for factory integration unless you want to spend the extra on a dsp

The dsp I talked about earlier

Let me know how that goes please I thought about sun down for my speakers as well

Also is it safe to do my speakers first? Then the radio I know it's backwards but I don't have 3k to spend right off the bat. plus I like the factory looking setup

That dsp is OK if you only want to run 4ch. I'll be running 6ch. Dash, doors and sub stage

But that dsp won't work for carpet integration unless you get a LOC

This is why I recommend the audio control eq8 I belive.

Thank you I will look into that, not sure on dsp tuning though. where would the warning chime come out at? I always heard you dont want to amp the dash speakers

To keep chime in tact, just set amp gain low and run the head unit volume higher. On my 45x4 Alpine amp, gain is set to the 1st indent (front), 2nd indent (rear). Gets plenty loud.

That still might be clipping the signal though. The gain isn't volume, it's matching output voltage

Chime signal is fed through the factory HU at a constant level regardless of HU audio volume. Just as a example, with 45x4 amp, running speaker level inputs, volume level in my truck is very clear up to about 70-75% on the HU. Starts to get a little dirty after that, moot point though, by that point it's very loud. Only other way I know how to do it is to leave factory dash speakers running off the HU with no external amplification, then run front doors (APillars, etc) only as amplified or off of rear door signal. This would retain bluetooth, chimes, etc at non-amplified levels. All depends on how much power you want to run.

I'm running all my signals off of the front l and r CH. Running a 3+1 active. Sa2.75 in dash, pioneer midbass in the door and tweeter on the dash. Have a 12 inch sub in a 1.5 cuft box behind the jumpseat. Running 3 amps..pp 900.4 and i1000.4 for the mids and higher and a profile California 600 bridged for the sub. Clean, clear, loud and pounds like concert. It was a good amount of work doing pieces here and there over a few months. My next move is a more powerful sub..ID, soundqubed, ect ..not sure

I did add rear speakers but after I amped them and ran them I like a front stage better than surround sound so noe the rears are ran of the stock rear CH so you can barely hear them. I wouldn't waste money on upgrading the rears. Just get the front stage nice and then you can never tell they are absent

The amp I'll be using has summing so I only need 2ch off the hu to run everything. But I will test for clipping with my dd1

Do you think you can get a pic of your sub box please?

I imagine running mid bass in doors will require some modifications?

JMHO, without fully sealing and tuning the doors, it's pretty tough to get good bass below about 40-60HZ out of door speakers. You may well have frequency response below 40hz, but it will be muddy. I played with 8" shallow mount subs in the rear doors for a while, incrementally adding sound deadener, the bass got tighter, cleaner and more pronounced.
