2007 Evap System Issues

I had a guy offer to to that whole leak test protocol but he would not say that would diagnose it. Said to start there which means you get to spend more money. I will take my light on and deal with it. Truck runs fine

My 2008 Silverado 1500 has gone thru two purge valve solenoids. Both failures caused a P0449 fault code. These solenoids look to be cheaply made. You can test them by applying 12 volts to see if they close and open as they should. Bought my last one at Rockauto.com for under $50.

My 04 Silverado kept triggering a P0455. I smoke tested it, but it passed with flying colors (no diagnostic tool or vaccum used). Turned out to be the charcoal cannister. I believe it has a one way valve that opens with vacuum sourced from the engine.
