Every mechanical issue ignored

Took my truck in for it's first service appt tody. At 6500miles, I have the following issues.

- Clear coat chipping/rust spots all over the truck/ chrome peeling on bumper

- The dealer told me to come back on a "clear" day to see the problems with paint/chrome. Today was a clear day they also rolled their eyes while explaining they couldnt take a look with me.

- Clunking from trans/rear end

-Dealer says this is completely normal and nothing is wrong, "don't worrry about the clunking its just a noise" "it's perfectly normal"

- Heavy vibration on the hwy after 70+ mph

- The dealer says their pico machine to test vibration is broken and I have to come back another day. Keep in mind this is after they drove for 20miles in my truck without me after I checked the miles.

So I was highly anticipating these guys would help me out, and I was totally let down. All they did was change my oil and said theyll call me when the pico machine is in to do all the other work as intended.

What should I do? Wait patiently? Has anyone dealt with these range of problems at once? Thanks for your help guys

The other dealership is 45 mins away, this one is less than 5. Do you think theyll handle the issues when I come back in? or should I just call the other dealership and explain my situation and see what they can do. When I asked for the manager to come look at the spots when they were trying to throw me off they told me hes not available. Should I just go back in and find the owner of the dealership? I just dont want to drive 45 mins each way for them to tell me the same thing.

EDIT: They told me they have never had any trucks in with these issues btw, made me laugh in their faces..

Part of every dealerships problems is there is a huge shortage of quality technicians, it might be more like they don't want to fix stuff it could they just don't have the time or bodies at that time. Did you tell them the list you had when you made the appointment or did you just figure you could add that list on the appointment you made for a oil change, guys they have oil change guys and techs, and you need to learn to schedule appropriately.

It took me 2 weeks to get the appt. for the oil change and a tech. Everything was noted before I was in there and in writing as I was checking in and I was there for about 2 hours. I hope theyre just really backed up and busy

rust spots all over the truck

I wouldnt let anyone touch it. Buy a $20 clay bar kit, some good sealant take an afternoon and detail the truck. The rust spots (orangish/brown) are "rail dust". Isnt a manufacturing defect, it happens when metal particles get on the paint. My truck at 70K miles and 9 yrs old still gets them occasionally even when fully detailing. It shows up promonently on light colored (silver, white) vehicles.

No guarantees they can fix it, sadly. It's hit or miss now when dealing with service visits. That's the new norm in the automotive industry.

Apparently the dealership doesn't want to help people so try the other one. The dealership I bought my truck from is in the same town and no more than 10 minutes away, but another one that's 20 minutes away treated me better so I started to go to them. I went to the 2nd one for the 3rd and final maintenance warranty oil change and tire rotation (I say final because the 2 years were up before the 4th). I also went to them for the seatbelt and airbag module recall. If a place doesn't treat me like I should I simply go somewhere else. If you keep using the bad ones then they know they can get away with it so why put up with it? I'm also not one of those a**hole customers either, I understand I'm not the only one, but I know how I should be treated.

By the way, that clunking can be fixed in 5 minutes if you have a TQ wrench. I fixed mine by torquing the u-bolt nuts to the right spec and the clunking hasn't happened since. Sometimes you just have to do it yourself. I didn't even like the idea of someone else changing the oil and rotating the tires, but it was free so I said what the hell and haven't heard any "horror stories" with either dealership.
