Just ordered the icon 2.5 coilovers and I plan on keeping them at 2" like my truck is currently leveled at. Can I run the stock UCAs with this setup or do I need to upgrade? Truck will stay at 2". The instructions State that the droop stop must be cut off if the stock UCAs are used? Is this mandatory? Thanks in advance.

You won't need aftermarket UCAs but you would definitely benefit from them.

And yes, if you have aluminum. Icon has great directions, follow them or give their customer service a call if you're worried.

Let me know what you think. Looking into Icons after doing more research.

Did you get extended travel Icons?

That will be your deciding factor for UCA requirements! If you did get the extended travel ICONS you will definitely need aftermarket uppers as the shocks will allow more travel than what factory ball-joints can handle, eventually leading to catastrophic failure. If you have standard travel the coil overs will serve as the limiting factor (There is a spacer to limit down travel) Although without UCA you may have trouble getting the alignment within allowable range.

I will post a complete review on gm trucks. I also ordered the Dirt king UCA

Dirt king makes nice stuff! pretty prominent in the Tacoma scene.

I wish there was more first hand reviews on their stuff for the Silverado, but I don't think I'll be disappointed. I will write my review after I get some road and Dirt time with them.

Sadly not much info for Silverados other than spacer lifts and drop brackets. I'm coming from a built Tacoma (Total Chaos long travel, etc)

I'm too tall for a Tacoma and wish they had the Hilux diesels here in the states. I love my Silverado just need better suspension after doing support for the ultra marathon in big bend state park last year it was made abundantly clear that I had enough power and clearance but not enough suspension. I now have a bad shock upfront and ball joints on a truck wit 33,000 miles. Ozona hunting property doesn't help either.

In for updates. Just when I thought I was going to go with a basic leveling kit, I find myself more and more interested in a set of Icon's or Fox 2.0s.
