Will an 04 radio with a CD player fit in my 2001? My 2001 has the tape player. My buddy is replacing the stock radio that has a CD player on his 2004 with an aftermarket one. Will his old stock radio fit in my 2001?

It might fit, but the '04 radio will be VIN-locked, don't know if the '01 is. It'll take a trip to the dealer to reset the VIN for it to have a chance of working. I don't know how backwards compatible the radio's are.

Ah shoot, I do remember hearing something about that. His truck has a lot of electronics, security etc. mine is just the base model with almost no electronics so I'm sure it has some kind of lock on it like you said

It will not work. 03 up radios are completely different than the previous generation.
