Adding tow mirrors to a 2017 Chevy

Who me?

I may or may not work with these trucks and other GM vehicles every day...perhaps...maybe, maybe not... #theworldmayneverknow

I was told by the dealership, that because I could not order these mirrors with my truck (Midnight Edition), it will void certain warranties. They said that Chevy has a strict policy, that even though they are factory parts, that I wanted to order, I am changing the build of the vehicle, and they cannot warranty them. Does this sound correct?

Sounds like you need a different dealer.

That very well may be, but, are they correct in what they are saying? These would be new GM parts, installed by a GM dealership.

That I don't know.

If you are looking for the full feature tow mirrors (DQS) vs. the DPN (non fold non memory) the mirrors have to be purchased individually.

23342727 and 23342716 are the door harnesses for memory function, 84041609 and 23351796 are the DQS power fold memory tow mirrors you need. If they already installed those # harnesses, you would need the individual mirrors.

I'm looking to put DQS mirrors on my truck as well (2016 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT DL3,A45) if I'm understanding this correctly these mirrors will be plug and play with the harness I have in my truck IE power fold, power adjust heat and what not but the only thing I won't have is the memory function ?

I could care less about the memory function I just want the tow mirrors with the power fold and the other stuff.

I've been trying to lock down part numbers of what I need to get this project done and this is getting beyond frustrating dealing with the dealership telling me it is not possible to have these mirrors on my truck and looking for part numbers on my own and finding discontinued parts left and right. Any help would be much appreciated to keep me sane

If you don't get the new harness with the tow mirrors, not all features will work, you will only retain the option you currently have.

Example, you do not have a marker/running light on the standard mirrors. So the running lights on the outside of the tow mirrors will not function unless you hard wire it in or replace the wiring harness.

We got a mirror warrantied on a Z71 Custom HD that we installed DQS mirrors on (truck had DL3). It was a parts warranty because we installed them not as a factory built item.

I see where they are coming from though.

Technically speaking, the only warranty that would be "voided" would be if you had mirror issues within your 3 year/36k warranty, as you would have replaced the factory mirrors with non built spec. Those tow mirrors would be covered by a parts warranty, which is 12 month/unlimited miles.

My thought is that the GM part wouldn't be covered under the original vehicle warranty. However it would be covered under the GM genuine parts warranty.

So labor wouldn't be covered at all, and you would have to deal with GM, not the dealership about the part warranty

pretty much were I landed in all the mess it took to get them, the cameras, and have it all installed. I have all the part numbers for those who may need them. It will be a couple days, I'm out of town currently.

Left Mirror-84041609

Left Harness-23342727

Right Mirror-84041611

Right Harness-23342716

These are the FULL FEATURE mirrors. You'll also need two nuts for the 4th OEM tow mirror bolt that you'll have to drill for. Part #25601643

15GMCSLT and myself put these on our trucks within a few days of each other, and i'm happy to report that all the features work as they should with NO programming/reprogramming from the dealer. 100% plug n play once you swap the harness.

I'm not sure if this question has been asked or not. If you can have full functionality with the harnesses and mirrors swapped, why does GM not offer this in a kit? They would sell a lot of them at a good profit thru the dealer.

Is there a reason??

Thanks for posting, what he posted looks to be correct, and on point.

When I asked that question to the dealer, in my situation at least, they are not part of the package I ordered. I ordered a Midnight, and only certain parts come with that option. Technically my truck no longer exists, I have altered the build level. I agree, you would think because of the popularity of these mirrors they would make them a option, but they did not. My truck is just about as loaded as I could order it, even checked the box for these mirrors, but when it came in, they told me I couldn't order it that way. Needless to say, I wasn't happy when I we told this, and they ordered it anyway without telling me about the issue, now $2,000.00 later on to of the price of my truck, I have what I wanted to begin with.
