Adding tow mirrors to a 2017 Chevy

I have read topics about adding mirrors to 2014-16 Chevy's. I have a 2017 Chevy LTZ-Z71 Crew Cab. I had the dealer order the large tow mirrors, and matching harnesses from GM, and the three camera system that goes with them. The dealership installed everything for warranty reasons. The mirrors will not hold memory, and do not fold. I took it back today, they said that there is no towing mirrors that will fold as my stock ones did. They said they only offer a manual fold for my truck. Has anyone else swapped to these mirrors with success? I have just over $2,000.00 wrapped up in this project, and in need of help.

Did they order you the mirrors that come in a kit? P/N 23372181 or 23372182. If so those are not the full feature DQS memory and power fold mirrors.

If you are looking for the full feature tow mirrors (DQS) vs. the DPN (non fold non memory) the mirrors have to be purchased individually.

23342727 and 23342716 are the door harnesses for memory function, 84041609 and 23351796 are the DQS power fold memory tow mirrors you need. If they already installed those # harnesses, you would need the individual mirrors.

Individually? Really??

For DQS tow mirrors yes. They do NOT sell them in a mirror kit like the DPN mirrors.

Due to content differences between the DL3 and DQS mirrors, the door harnesses must be replaced. The Parts Department will need to turn the VIN filter OFF and then look up the door harnesses for the truck. The Parts Department must substitute the trucks mirror RPO DL3 with DQS.

If you are wanting the non memory, non power fold DPN tow mirrors, they sell them in the mirror kits 23372181 (chrome $725) and 23372182 (black $625).

I just left the dealership. 15HDriver seems to be correct. They are going to call the engineers tomorrow to see what they can find for my truck. The salesman I ordered the truck through, parts manager, and the manager of the dealership are working with me as much as they can. If there is a set of mirrors, and harnesses for my truck that will do what I want, they will buy them, install them at no extra charges to me. The truck is there getting the windshield replaced, vent visors, and bug shield installed, and trying to find my roof leak. It's been a long story with this truck, I haven't even put 800 miles on it yet. The dealer has had it longer than me. I just want my truck back, scratch free, in working order, or I'll have them put the stock mirrors back on, and have them take this one back. There is more to the story than I have written here, I've had it already with this one, the new truck smiley face is long gone....

Thanks for the help so far, I will keep you posted on how this goes for future reference for others to get information from.

This is correct, although the 23351796 (Right Mirror) has an updated part #. It is 84041611

I have had these on order for about a week now but the harnesses have arrived.

Thanks, keep the information coming! The dealership is saying that the new tow mirrors are not a direct bolt on. Is that true? I know I seen a video where they did have to drill a third or fourth hole to mount the mirrors. I don't recall the year of the truck, and or mirrors. I'll look for it again, it may have been a video from fondupot, or the one I seen from a repair garage...

If the truck was built anywhere other than Flint Michigan plant (crew cab with VIN starting with 1 are Flint, starting with a 3 is Mexico), there has to be a 4th hole drilled for the 4th mirror stud.

So if this is the case, and your truck is a Flint build, it should already have the 4th hole. If it is a Mexico truck (3), they would have drilled the hole when they put the wrong set on. The DQS power fold tows would bolt right on.

Mine was built in Mexico. Yes, they have installed a set of non folding mirrors. My guess is that they didn't drill, but removed the bolt.

How/where do you get your information from?

That info is correct about drilling the fourth hole. Not that hard! It's already outlined where to drill. I'll post a video in just a moment. Now the info and being built at different plants having the hole or not, that I don't know. Mine was Mexico built as well.

Who me?

I may or may not work with these trucks and other GM vehicles every day...perhaps...maybe, maybe not... #theworldmayneverknow

It's amazing how fast a parts guy at the dealer will turn you down and say something wont fit, even though it clearly will. The power folding tow mirrors can most definitely be added.

I know. They stay installed the wrong mirrors, now that are saying they don't know what harnesses to use, no matter how much information and videos I show them
