File size upload limit

1mb is pathetic, none of our phones take 1mb photo's anymore unless we manually select the camera to do so, pain in the butt.

Storage space is like $20/ TB these days, thats $20 for 1 million photos

$20/250k photo's too expensive?

If it is, atleast resize the photo's for us automatically so we can actually post photo's from our phones without resizing them.

That just adds another step, sort of like resizing a pic from your phone.

This is the only forum I've been on in awhile that you just can't upload pics from your phone in seconds.

Having the limit is clearly to save a few bucks, 1mb may have been appropriate 5-10 years ago, but not anymore.

If they insist on keeping it that small atleast give us the ability to resize it during upload.

It is not as simple as that, you have to deal with the mysql and databases assigned to the server as well as databases for the sites themselves, which in return X server has to divide up the resources to all sites hosted on it.

Storage plays a small part of the functioning of a web-site, the search feature eats up more resources than anything on a forum.

Do you have a gallery set up? If not I would suggest creating one and uploading your photos to the gallery which IPB gallery will resize photos if the settings are correct and you do not exceed the maximum upload file size the server has set as default, then post your photo from the gallery instead of the 3meg or larger photo from your phone.

Just friendly advice from someone that knows IPB software and server management
