After market Rooftop marker lights

Recommended Posts

Was hoping my 2015 sierra 3500 came with the Rooftop marker lights but it didn't it's fully loaded with all the bells and whistles just don't have painted bumpers and marker lights like the Denali or the all terrain edition. Has anyone put in OEM marker lights on the roof that didn't come with the truck? I'm sure if the job was done right it shouldn't leak or anything just wanted to hace some input if anyone has done it thanks !

There are some threads on here where folks have had them installed afterwards. I think most had a shop install them rather than try to do it themselves.

I factory ordered my last few trucks and on the SRW trucks they are such a bargain as a factory option. My last two trucks were duallies and the cab roof lights are standard equipement on DRW, this supports my belief that real trucks have cab roof marker lights. I did put my own on a 1988 F:250 because the 88 I ordered was taking too long to come in and I found a similar truck with no roof markers. The hardest parts was making a scaffold to mark & drill the holes. On my 08 Silverado Dually, one of my roof marker lights burned out and when I priced it at several dealers they wanted over 100.00 for one lousey light, this was one of the single side lights. The triple centre light would be much more. This is Canada where our 74 cent US Dollar buys very little and our Govt takes most of them in taxes. I was able to find a complete set of aftermarket LED lights ( the original were LED , no bulb available, you have to buy the complete unit ) for only 85 US and I put them on. They really looked nice but the rubber gaskets they came with had small leaks so I took them off and cleaned everything with rubbing alcohol, used clear exterior silicone caulking and did a neat tidy job and no more leaks. I did this two years before I traded the truck in.

Make sure you get some prices on after market lights as I believe even in the USA, the OEM lights will be very expensive. It is a little intimidating drilling holes in the roof of a new truck, so if you are not comfortable it may pay you to find a good shop that does this all the time. I am an industrial mechanic or Millwright so I have drilled a few holes in different things. Good luck getting it done.

One of my lights cracked a few months ago and someone recommended Recon lights for a quality light. I have not looked into that though.
