Steering Wheel Squeak

Recommended Posts

Anyone else hear a squeak when turning your steering wheel in cold weather? It does not happen in warmer weather.

I get the same thing. Never looked into it but up in the northeast with cold all time. Wonder if its the rubber or plastic rubbing on the wheel. Really would like to know what it is

Yes! I get the same thing. I will be mentioning it to the dealership here when I go for an oil change.

It does not affect or interfere with steering it's just more annoying than anything. Please keep us posted on what the dealership says. Thanks!

thanks but definitely a high pitch squeal that only happens when the weather is cold and only when the steering wheel is being turned in either direction

belt squeal , could be belts.

My 16 Sierra Denali did this..it was the steering column shaft going through the rubber boot in the firewall..I sprayed some white lithium grease in and around the shaft where the shaft meets the boot at firewall. problem solved

My 16 Denali does the same thing. And its a squeak 100% and not clicking, as my 14 clicked its way to being a lemon. This is a squeak and only when cold. Took it in to dealer and they said they will fix it. They did something and the next day it started squeezing. Honestly do these idiots even test drive what they fix ? its crazy how many small quality control stuff that comes up .

Had this on my wife's car. I just dabbed silicone on a tooth pick and worked it in between the wheel and column. No more squeak

Did the same thing with some spray silicone and the squeak is gone. Also sprayed the column where it goes through the firewall as well! [emoji106]
