Hi all

My Truck which is a 1989 K3500 Suburban 5.7 V8 has sometime ago failed to start which led me to replacing the Starter Motor, this then solved the problem and the Truck has been starting ever since without any problems.

For some reason however was the starting very slow and it took me at least 2 turns to get her started on Petrol but when I switch it onto LPG would it usually start after around 5 seconds.

My LPG System does however have some common problems with it which causes juddering and I was going to get it Serviced this week.

Yesterday as I tried to switch over from Petrol to LPG did the Car die which has happened in the past as the LPG is most likely clogged and just needed a good Service or so.

I then tried to fire the Truck up on Petrol but then for some reason did it take a Hell of a lot to get it started. I tried multiple times and wasn't sure what now delayed the starting even further.

I have just installed a new Battery, am getting my Alternator refurbished today, changed the Spark Plugs and am now going to change the Fuel Filter.

My concern may be that the actual Starter Motor is fried after trying to start the Truck from LPG to Petrol ?

The Starter Motor is a 12v with 1.4kW....here is the link:

The Engine Turns but is just not firing up and I can hear the Fuel Pump ticking as well.

I would be grateful if someone could shed some light on this for me.

Thanks everyone

Your engine has backfired and knocked off the air intake reposition and reclamp it and you should be just fine
