Well I finally smartened up and contacted Range via a chat session. The response was:

 

 

Me :If the Range is removed or inserted with the ignition on or the vehicle running is that a problem?

Reply:No, never.

Reply:Range modules do not cause ANY damage to vehicles regardless of how they are installed.

 

​I thought that was the end. You have to give your email address to do a live chat. I kept getting a chat request in my email in box.

​So I did another chat with a different person.

I have inserted it and taken it out while driving before without issue. All it does is intercept the signal to go into V4 mode, so I don't see how it could cause harm...
