is there a way to turn off the traction control for good. there is a bug in there system. on our car I hit a chunk of ice going around a corner and the car went right into the ditch. steering didn't work right. told the dealer and I'm the only one in the world that had that problem. so I don't like that feature on a truck either. sometimes I forget to manually turn it off. would like to turn it off for good.

I wasn't there don't know your driving style, traction control and other nannies can only do so much. My wife one time in the early period after anti loc brakes came out said she felt like it took longer to stop. My reply was you weren't as busy steering straight hearing tires squealing smelling tire smoke so it seemed longed.

I often wish this feature defaulted off and I turn it on when I want it. I turn mine off a lot also and I still catch it try to work when it's off. My driveway is up hill and when there is snow my tires often spin going up if it's on my truck will bleed off momentum so I keep it off

The only way to disable stabilitrac is to pull fuse #3. This will disable the antilock brakes which is what the stabilitrac works through. Unfortunately you still have to push the switch each time you start the truck to turn off the traction control. I grew up wthout needing a trucks computer to drive for me. Stabilitrak is what caused my last truck to hit the ditch on black ice. If I could have controlled the brakes I could have driven out of the skid. All this crap works great on the dry pavement in California. Not worth a shit in the mountains in a foot of snow though.....
