The L96 was designed for E85 capability, but whether all the pickups with the L96 got setup for E85, I am not sure. Every pickup with the L96 I have seen has been set up for E85. But I suppose there could be a few out there that are not.

I have the e85 code on my build sheet but after reading the owners manual it states that all e85 trucks have a yellow gas cap and labeling behind the fuel door. Well I have neither but did purchase the truck used so things could have been changed by the previous owner. I wanted to give a tankful of this stuff a shot. Anywhere else on the vehicle that would indicate e85 compatibility other than a yellow fuel cap?

The VIN used to have a digit that referenced this as well. At least on the GMT900 and maybe GMT800's. Probably would indicate the same thing as the build sheet, though.

Yeah, relying on fuel cap, especially on a pre-owned pickup, is not the best way to tell. That could have been replaced. No doubt, the build sheet and VIN would tell the story.
