On the plus side, I can confirm that the key will only move from On to Accessory, and the steering does not lock. However your truck will go into limp home mode and every system will be disabled until you stop and park it for a few minutes.

I kept getting power steering codes after a week. Took it off and haven't had the issue since.

 

On a side note, bought the intune but they have yet to release the 2017 update. Sooner or later I will be able to turn off afm....

Its cheaper to just drive in M5 (6-speed) or M7 (8-speed) when cruising city/suburb, M6 or M8 when you hit the highway. I had one on my 07 Avalanche and have had issues with having to unplug and replug it back in because it didnt activate on startup. I won't get one for my 2016 Sierra :/

Shift into "M" (manual mode or Range selection) and then shift up to M5 or M7. The truck will shift for you automatically, no need to downshift but you will never switch to V4 mode at slow speeds. But once you hit the highway and shift up to M6 or M8, it will activate V4 mode normally.

I don't believe I have "M" If I recall I have "D" and "L" . In a blizzard right now so can't check. Do all sierra's have this.

Is this on the steering column? I have drive and low , no "M" or is this a switch or something?

FYI

 

Manual 5 will keep it out of 4 cylinder mode, however, Manual 6 will not.

 

 

Brownclown, you shift into L (low) and use the button on gear selector to move up to 5. Your display will show you the number gear you have it set to

Range device plugs into the same place that you plug in a code reader. It keeps your engine from going into 4 cylinder mode.
