amazing, showed the dealer the info you gave me concerning my problems they told me that they could check the 3 points you mentioned, However if they turned out not to be the issue warranty wouldn't cover the labor cost and i sill wouldn't know what the problem was

Ask them if checking this ground fastener is part of the system causing issues! Because it is.....first test in electrical is to confirm a good positive and negative source, this includes confirmation of secured fasteners as well.

is there a way to check the G218 connection without taking the dash out that seems to be a sticking point for them the other 2 are pretty simple

A fastener torque check needs to be preformed for a complete inspection, as an electrical "static" test might not guarantee a loss of voltage conductivity in a "dynamic " moving vehicle mode.

I'm not sure is there not tweeters or a vent in that area? If so removal of them might grant access to the fastener?

I personally have not tried to reach that nut!

Let us know

I just checked mine again this weekend. Took me less than 1/2 hour to do both sides. You don't have to take the dash out:

1) Remove grab handles/A pillars (takes about 5 minutes)

2) Pop up the front half section of the dash near the windshield. Make sure to disconnect the ambient light sensor (the dash trim is held in with clips -- takes about 3 minutes)

3) Remove both tweeters that are each held in by 2 screws. This is not necessary but makes it easier to get to the ground lugs. (takes another 3 minutes)

4) Remove the ground nuts. Check the lugs for extra paint or for the insulation mat getting stuck under the nut. Reinstall the ground wires and nuts.

5) Do steps 3-2-1 to put everything back together.

Like I said I checked the ground on both sides and the whole process took me about 20 minutes. The worst part was getting a wrench on the ground nuts. I haven't had any codes since and the truck runs much better at idle (the G218 ground is for the BCM which controls a LOT of functions on the truck).

Thankyou for putting this together for others!

update, talked with GM customer service concerning my truck. the rep ask if the car fax i received when making the purchase showed any problem in the past. i explained the dealer didn't provide a carfax ( i guess i should have ask for one) anyway this seemed to take the SC rep by surprise, long story short i got a carfax and it appears the truck has done this in the past, told the rep if i had known this i would have passed on this truck, in the end they gave me an extended bumper to bumper warranty for 4 more years or 60,000 miles and any and all issued with the truck would be resolved under warranty. makes me think the dealer is going to be in trouble with GM corp. and i hope they are. have an appointment next week, (different dealer) i am going to provide the info i learned here to the dealer in hopes of getting things resolved in a timely manner. i thank you guys for all the help and will let you know what the problem was.

Same thing happened to my truck I have a 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 and my truck did the same thing it ran fine all day long then it was idling for about 20 min and then all these indicator lights popped up saying service stabilitrak, traction control, I had limited steering and my antilocking brakes also my oil gauge and temp gauge stopped working and my A/C was blowing hot air so I turned my truck off and then proceeded to start it back up and wouldnt even try to crank over at all then I totally lost power to the truck nothing would come on so I had it towed and then the dealer said my ECM was bad and that I had no communication to it so they luckily had a spare ECM and it shorted out my battery which they also replaced

So looks like they might be having ECM problems?? My truck only has 16,000 miles on it

i don't think it was as the car fax i finally got shows it was a lease another reason i would have passed on it

OK it is at the dealer told them i did not want the truck back until they know exactly what the problem was and want proof it has been fixed. think GM customer service lit a fire because they said it would be fixed by Friday will let you know what the problem was and thanks everyone for your help.

the truck has been at the dealer since Monday, talked to them yesterday they told me they checked all three of the issues that 2strokesmoke had mentioned and none of them including the g218 ground caused the problem, they said that they could not get the truck to "repeat" the original problem when it was towed in, therefore there is nothing they can do. and i will just have to drive it until it happens again before they can do anything. so i guess i will be driving a truck that i can't trust to start. THIS SUX !!

guess i will pick it up this afternoon

I'm having the same problem. I get the alarms dead engine. After about 2 hours it'll start and I'll have an ecm code. Already replaced the ecm now it's back there again. You ever get it fixed?
