G80 locker into open diff 10 bolt?

Have an '07 avalanche with the standard open diff rear end. Only avalanches that had the g80 were the z71's. Looking at putting one in but I know there's different splines and slightly different sizes (8.5/8.6). If I'm buying a used one (eBay or other site), how can I make sure I'm getting the right fit?

 

And no I don't particularly want a tru-trac or some of the other options. I liked the g80 in my Sierra 1500 I had. It does what I need it to.

by 1996, you could find 14 bolt in half tons.

the g80 was not exactly a good one back then..all the diffs were in anew level of power.

just the 305 was bigger than ALL previous 350s.

 

the ten bolt open can wobble flanges.. the g80 should make a pile out of itself.

 

 

an interesting find is 6 lug, 12-14 bolt full floaters, and then go aftermarket on the gearing/LSD

 

that was my plan anyway.

 

the modern g80..as in 2016. Very nice stuff. Not the same.
