2006 gmc 4x4 problems

I have a 2006 gmc 1500 4x4 bought truck was told transfer case was bad the guy I bought truck from was driving it with no encoder motor on it said it went bad but he was still driving it so it quit pulling on him wouldn't go front wards or back wards just rev up and when u shifted from reverse to park it would make clicking noise. So I towed it home put new encoder motor on it hooked everything up started truck nothing no lights on switch and service 4wd message on dash tried a new switch still nothing checked all fuses with test light please help.

Check the fluid in the xfer case, if it's red change it to AC Delco Xfer case fluid. It's Blue and expensive. I have found it at the local GM dealers only. My Xfer case shifted slowly if it shifted at all and I had messages on my dash until I swapped the fluids out, now it works and no messages. Good Luck.
