So I have a 95 Silverado with 350 5.7 stock, it overheated and now back fires while driving and leaks water from the two hoses going into the heater core underneath the dash. Now this truck has 495k on the original motor which has been rebuilt at one point in it's life, I may just need new engine but could the back fire and over heat be a sign of a blown head gasket maybe?

Very possible, especially if it overheats pretty quickly. Removed the radiator cap and run the vehicle. When it gets hot and bubbles like crazy out of the radiator, it's a blown head gasket.

Might not be a bad idea to grab one of those liquid gas testers for the radiator. Sounds like the leak should be big enough to confirm a blown gasket without any doubt.

With that kind of miles and an overheat, I believe it's pretty much a given at this point. If it's big enough, even a leak down test will bubble the coolant.
