2003 S10 P410

I have a 2003 S10 4.3 manual that is showing a P410 code. The truck does not have an air pump. The truck was bought new and never came with one. I checked exhaust manifolds for fitting pertaining to air pump - none to be found. Pulled battery and battery tray - no air pump hardware to be found. Inspected all around engine - top and bottom and still no sign of an air pump. I heard a rumor that GM stopped using air pumps starting in 2003. I suspect the P410 may be coming from the Y pipe upstream of Cat. The section of piupe that connect driver side to passenger side (into one pipe) is crushed to about 1/2 diameter. It's been like this for years and it may have taken a while to finally throw a code.

 

Anyone else hear of a P410 on a non-air pump truck?

If you can have somebody use a scan tool and record the engine data and any available engine codes. To set this code, look at fuel trim numbers, O2 numbers or if the motor is running on the "rich" side. This data has to be collected when driving the truck below 25 mph in a light load condition. Remote possibility, are you "lugging" the motor with lower than normal operating rpm"s???

Would love to see your engine performance data to throw that code. Did some research, your S10 should have come with a air pump system. The service bulletin is 04D-183. There is a shield that needs to be remove to see the pump assembly. It's not plainly visible. I'm leaving a hyperlink from Delco explaining the P0410 code on your truck.
