Mirror swap- 2015 to 2017

So, I'm in the process of trading my 2015 Silverado 2500HD w power, non heated tow mirrors in for a 2017 Silverado 2500 HD w power, regular sized mirrors (yuck!!!).

My question is, if the have the same wiring harness inside them for power, etc.. . would I be able to swap out the crappy mirrors on the new truck with the two mirrors off my old truck?

Thanks!

Tow mirrors are heated, the top glass only. Do you have the new style tow mirrors on the 2015 (the amber front lights and the LED reverse lamp)?

What trim level is the 2015 and the 2017 also what cabs are both trucks?

Yes, my 2015 has the new style tow mirrors, exactly as you described.

My 2015 is an LT w convenience package, cloth, full crew cab

The 2017 is an LT w convenience package, leather, midnight edition, full crew cab

Yes they can be swapped.

Dealer parts/service should be able to verify if adapter harness and/or programming mods are required.

Have them make the change as part of the deal. Swap mirrors or just install accessory mirrors on the new truck and leave the old one as is.

Accessory section at chevy website offers them:

Trailering Mirrors
Part Name: Trailering Outside Rearview Mirrors, Black
Part #: 23372182
Brand: Chevrolet OEM

If you do swap truck to truck, you will need to take not only the mirrors, but the door harnesses as well out of the old truck. So yes, you can swap the mirrors from one truck to the other, but you will have to swap the door wiring as well or get new door harnesses for the new truck.

Thank you!

They knew it was part of the deal to begin with but considering where I live, the diesel midnight edition is so hard to find, they had to get it off another dealer and that was hard to do (according to them anyway).

So, the new truck has everything we want BUT the smaller mirrors and I tow a horse trailer or flatbed trailer quite a bit, so the tow mirrors are a necessity.

The dealer isn't to eager to do the swap of mirrors so I was trying to have some background info if they resist too much. He said he needs to see the two trucks sitting side by side to know if they are able to be swapped or not....?

Gets old having to do the salesmens job for them but it seems so typical these days. :(

So...not to throw a wrench in your plan...is the old truck a diesel as well?

15HDriver,

No it's not.... ?

So old truck is gas? If so, you will have to check your passenger mirror on the bottom cover for an ambient temperature sensor. If it is present, you can swap truck to truck, if its not, then you might as well just get new harnesses and a new mirror set as the diesel trucks built after August 14th 2014 have that extra sensor in the passenger mirror. It will set a check engine light if its not present.

Got it.. yes, it's gas. I'd like to say I'm hopeful the dealer can figure this out but again, after the fiasco with them, I'm not so sure.. lol

Thank you!

Why not just have them get the mirrors you want thru GM accessories?

Then it's not necessary to get different mirrors working on trucks.

According to the accessory pages, the accessory mirrors will carry warranty

Because after paying that much $$ for a truck... I don't want to pay that much additional $$ to have the mirrors it should have had on it from the start.
