I arced the battery and truck's dead, need help

2016 GMC HD 2500 6.0 gas.

I'm installing a winch, I arced the ground to one of the positive terminals (see picture).

I have the key beep, the radio comes on and won't go off, and the volume doesn't work.

I have nothing else, no lights, no gauges, nothing.

I disconnected the battery and re-connected but it didn't change anything.

Where do I start?

Do you have two batteries? If so, check the fusible link on the aux battery. That may have blown.

Did you dead short right from the + terminal coming out of the battery to the body? Or are those terminals you are pointing to fused (i.e. is there fuse between those hook ups and the + terminal coming off the battery?). It looks like they may be fused and if so one of those is blown.

I believe the terminal on the left with the two wires attached has a 175A fusible link between the aluminum plate connecting it to the positive terminal. I'll run out and look at my truck and see if I can figure it out.

Just looked at my truck. Couldn't get the cover off completely, but from what I can see that is some sort of a fusible link. If you shorted the post on the left (with the two wires attached) you may be able to move those wires to the third post from the left b/c it appears to be empty and 175A as well. You might try that and see if you have luck. Disconnect the ground from the battery first though and be careful. Batteries can explode and fry you with acid.

Also, you should through your circuit meter on those posts and figure out if you are getting voltage. That will tell you which ones are live or dead.

Awesome - glad to hear!

hey, which post did you put the winch on? I'd suggest the middle one so you don't overload the right 175 amp post.
