Hood Shake

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, not sure if this is an issue, but I get a lot of hood shake/vibration at highway speeds. I don't remember having this problem on my 2006. Not sure if it's the aluminum hood or what, but wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Its noraml for the hood to bufer a little while driving at highway speeds, thats typical of aluminum which has a lot of give.

My wife mustang has way more movement on that aluminium hood daily, then mine does on a very windy day..... Just saying, that mines good compared to the way op makes his sound.

I have the iem bugshield on mine and mine doesnt vibrate any more than the next. As the OP mentiined, hes comparing the buffering of hisncurrent truck to a 2006 and if i remember correctly, the 2006 had a steel hood.

True,...I'm just thinking that the bug shield is creating alot more buffering to the hood area and changing the areodynamic's

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yes, the amount of hood shake is subjective. It's not so bad that it seems like the hood is in danger of flying off, but it is more than I noticed with my previous generations of GM truck.

I'm not too concerned if others also experience some shaking as well.

I do have a big deflector. You think that's contributing to the shake?

Bottom edge of the hood has a rubber gasket to seal tight and prevent air from getting underneath and creating a "flutter" at high speeds especially with a lighter Al hood.. A deflector that sticks on the surface of the hood shouldn't have any effect, but one that mounts under the hood compromises the rubber seal. No hood deflector - no shaking.
