Bumper swap

Tomorrow I will be doing my rear bumper swap, getting rid of my chrome going to paint to match. Anyone in the Austin Texas area that has done the swap before and is interested I could always use help if possible. Can provide beer and everything.

I've removed my rear bumper about 6 times by myself. It's not hard when you lift the bed up away from the frame. You'll need larger than normal sockets... 18mm, 19mm and 21mm... if I recall. I used the factory jack and a 24" - 2x4 to raise it. It takes me about 20 minutes.

 

Remove the spare tire for more access. (2) Electrical connector disconnects and the plastic tube for the spare tire rod. Aside from the bed frame bolts, each side will have 3 bolts, the two bolts in the middle by the license plate.

I did mine twice and when I helped timeswelding do his rear swap we did it in under an hour and that included swapping all the plastic parts as well. Its pretty easy once you know how to do it.

Thanks for the tips!! Gonna get up early and start it probably. I'm gonna need a longer extension for sure so I'll pick that up tonight so I'm ready for tomorrow
